Another night at knitting

We had our 2nd night at our knitting night! It went great. Everyone seemed to have a really good time. You can see everyone was working on their projects. My daughter Bri came along with me. She was working on some leg warmers for Jonathan. I was working on some pedicur socks for me. Yes for me. (I pass along most everything I make. There is no way to say no to your special ones.)

Emily seemed to be having a great time. Her son was there too. He was teaching a lucky someone how to knit.

You would not believe the lace work a couple of people were working on, it was fantastic. I can't wait to see the finished project.

The town of Summerville is having a night that the local artists are putting out their work. I loved looking at it. Such talent the town has.

We will be having our local arts & craft show, The Azalea Festival", on Apr 3-5. They always have some good stuff there. But... so crowded. I shall pass along some pictures of it when we go. I pray all has a wonderful night.

My Christmas Present...

Brianna and I had a great time at my Christmas present from Lester. I loved it! WOW! Where do I start? The opening of the gift itself, or the going to it? I don't know which I enjoyed more...it was fantastic. I'll say this it's nothing like listening to them on tv, it was so much better. You could feel the music, the women's voices, the drums... to sit and close your eyes and to feel the beat of the drums...I'll go back again any time I can. Watching the women, I sat there and thought how do they get up there and do it? Their voices are great. Then we sat and watched the one who plays the violin... WOW! She was great. How she didn't trip on her skirts? Then I thought she was bare foot to see no...she had on heels and hopping and dancing around up there. Then one of the drum players, I thought that he dropped on of his sticks, no, he tossed it over his back to go on to the other ones. I didn't know Bri or any one else saw it until after it was over and she said, "Did you see him throw his sticks over his shoulder?" The yesterday we went to the Frame shop where I have some of my pottery to find out that she was in the next group of seats beside us. She said the same thing.

On to another subject... did I say I like spring? I hate all this pollen! Will it ever go away? I haven't taken a deep breath in forever. To day it is raining, so it should help to wash it away. I hope...

On April 3rd-5th is the Azalea Festival. I think that Bri and I will be able to go together. I wish Ashley was here to go. Every year I always say well this year Ashley can come with us... but I'm not sure. I'll try to get some good pictures for her.

I pray that all of you have a good afternoon, I'll write again later this week. I have to put on the 2nd knit stitch pictures.

Tomorrow is SPRING!!!!

I know tomorrow is the first day of Spring...but it feels like it's today. The flowers are in bloom...daffodil's, Jasmin, azaleas, and yes, the wonderful wisteria has started. I know it also means everything here in Charleston, SC is covered with a yellow dusty film (POLLEN!) But the beauty makes it worth every sneeze and trial to take a breath. Even with this going on I am opening my windows. Between these and the singing birds... well what else to say except what a joy, Praise God!
This saying I have found says it all so well. I do hope you enjoy it as much.

In the corner of my garden, Where the wildflowers grow I sit and I admire, How God has graced us so.

Please go out as soon as they come out in your area and enjoy what the Lord has blessed us with. Close your eyes (yes, after you have looked on them for a while)and take time to smell and listen, this is such a joy to experience to have.

The Best...

This memory is one that I feel when I think of what Helen Keller once said,"The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart." There is nothing as special as the moment you are being loved...whether by you husband, your child, or your mother. It must be felt.

We've had a long week...my father-in-law had hip replacement done a week ago Mon. Was in and out of critical care a couple of times, then moved to a nursing home for rehab. I pray the Lord heals him quickly. Lester is going back to Ga. today to check on him. Then sometime this week will be going back to Newport, RI. I wish I was going. But I have my Christmas present to go to!!!

We have a bright sunny day out this morning. It's been overcast and rainy for the last 4 days. So the birds are out singing. Praise God what a wonderful day.

Who wouldn't knit for her?

Yes, I will always knit for my Bethany. I love this kind of reaction. It brings all those reknitted rows, and dropped stitches... well worth it. This was a set I made for her just a couple of weeks ago. Bethany didn't really like her fingers covered so I thought I'd try half mittens. Well everyone knows Nana's can't stop there. So after a mad dash back to Tus.Mornings I found way in the back of the shelf(fallen out of the box), I knew it was there, the other skein of yarn I needed to finish the set. Cabled Beanie hat, mitten's, and scarf (extra long just the way she likes it). So as you can see I think it was Worth it.

I talked to Miah yesterday. He just got his package in the mail. He didn't know they were coming. I'll post a picture of them as soon as I get it. I asked him if he liked his things? He says "The hat is great it fits like I tried it on just for me and I love the mittens." His are brown ribbed beanie and half mittens.

I love mine so I took it that every one else would want some. Yes, you had better believe it that they will or do! If not they will still go down saying they do with a smile on their face (heehee).

Bri's Mitten's

Now you can see why I was so flusterated with those stupid socks! I felt if I can and could make these, then why not a sock...I guess I just needed to get the picture of what I was doing in my head to understand the directions. I mean nothing else I made do you move your starting stich half way through the project. Then to place it in the middle of the heel? I think some old English person was on drugs when they came up with this one all those years ago. Ok I know all have been working on them all this time...but...ok so this is the best why. I still don't like it. So there.
Yes, I will make more, if nothing else to prove that I can do it again.
I most deffinatly will make more of these so called "Bella Mitten's". I love them! Brianna said she was going to sleep in them.
I made them from a yarn from Peru. I have it all written out in my Ravelry account. The name of it is Mirasol-yarn type Sulka, wool, alpaca, and silk. Shade -209. It took 4 skeins to make. They have a real nice site www.mirasolperu.com. I like to go to the different sites and read up on the people who make it. I'd love to go to all the places to watch it, but... you know how that is. When will I ever get to Peru?
As I was telling you, I love Bri's mittens, if you have a questions please ask. I hope that you like them as much. Have a wonderful day.

My Socks....

Yes, I did it. I made a pair of socks! Those of you who know me, well you know I can be a bit "OCD". Yes, I admit it. So I hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from. I have been trying these bad boys for years... to no avail. I thought if I can do sweaters, gloves, mittens, and such why not these? So I went to work as never before...yes, I did it. I hope you are all as thrilled as I am. Yes, I will make more. No Ashley that doesn't mean you are getting yours in the morning. Hey, I just made something and they stayed on my feet all day long. I think I will keep these. Yes I have a bit of a problem making and keeping thinks. Some how someone else always can use or like them more.
Keep your eye out... I'm going to tell you about Bri's mittens soon. Then you will see why I was so flustered with the socks.
I pray that you all have a wonderful blessed afternoon.
